PAOLA

I am currently finishing my first year in the Nursing Program at Carleton University. In 2023, with the help of my parents, I co-founded Swimsmart Academy. This is our 4th summer open and I am excited to provide a fun and safe environment for swimming lessons for many more students that want to improve their water skills and abilities.


My credentials expand beyond fully certified Lifeguard and Swim Instructor and include Aurora Football Club OPDL U17G player and a certified Northern Karate Junior Black Belt.  I have gained a lot of experience volunteering as a coach for kids of all ages both in the AFC and Royal City Soccer Camps and as a french camp counselor at Camp Tournesol. During the school year, I have been instructing and lifeguarding for the Town of Aurora Aquatics deptartment so I can continue to gain more experience and reach out too many other students.


I'm looking forward to helping your kids gain confidence, learning and improving skills in the water while staying safe and having fun! I can't wait to teach lessons again this summer!



GABRIELA

Hi! I am currently a grade 11 student here in Aurora, and I absolutely love working with kids! My journey started as a camper at SAC Day Camp, where I eventually did the Leaders-in-training (LIT) program. That was such a great experience because it taught me so many creative ways to keep kids busy and having fun. Right now, I am doing my high school co-op placement at a local elementary school in a Grade 2 class. It is so much fun!


I have been super busy in the water! Last summer, I joined the Swimsmart Academy team as a n instructor, and throughout the school year, I have been lifeguarding and teaching lessons for the Town of Aurora. Working at the pool has really helped me become a better leader and learn how to help all kinds of different student. When I am not at school or the pool, I babysit. I have been lucky to watch some amazing kids, and I always get a giggle being around little ones, their energy the best.


Volleyball is my other passion, I have been part of the St. Maximillian Kolbe Tier 1 Junior and Senior Volleyball Team as well as the Georgina Riptide Rep Team. I am excited to join swimmers of all ages this summer for lots of learning and fun games! My enthusiasm for sports keeps growing with each new experience. Can't wait to see you all at the pool!
